Governorship candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the last governorship election in Imo state, Linus Okorie has commended the appointment of former Governor Ikedi Ohakim for accepting his appointment as the chairman of July’s clean up committee.
Okorie who disclosed this in a release he issued on Thursday, described Ohakim’s action as a “show of global leadership mentality.”
The release reads:
“Few days after his appointment as the chairman of the July’s Cleanup Committee, Former Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Chief Ikedi Ohakim has accepted the offer by the incumbent Governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
“First, I want to praise the Governor for his vision in spotting men of quality and competence in the discharge of the state assignment without any sense of insecurity on his part. It is uncommon to see this kind of gestures among our political class. In fact, the governor’s ability to attract men and women of quality to specific endeavours will be one of his major secrets of success as a public leader if he continues on that path.
“I sincerely appreciate the former Governor, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, for his humility and patriotism in accepting the appointment to serve our state selflessly. This is a show of global leadership mentality.
“I believe with your outstanding performance and depth of experience as governor that restored Imo as the cleanest city in Nigeria, you will be able to steer this committee to great heights and return Imo to its glory days.
“This singular action has many lessons in it, but I want to single one out. It’s a clarion call to our youth to embrace the call of leadership when beckoned. It’s to take the service if nationhood as a thing of pride, irrespective of the appellation of glory.
Indeed, Imo will shine!”
