The General Manager of the Imo State Environmental Transformation Commission, (ENTRACO), and Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Alex Emeziem Jnr, has promised to give the operations of his commission a human face by operating within the armbit of the law.
Emeziem however read riot act to residents, traders and others who are always in the habit of flouting laid down rules and regulations.
He revealed that his second phase as ENTRACO General Manager will focus on enforcement of Imo State ENTRACO law so that defaulters shall be subjected to pay fine.
The ENTRACO boss therefore vowed not to tolerate or condole any form of indiscipline from ENTRACO staff or the adhoc workers.
We want to commend the ENTRACO General Manager for his bold initiatives especially on the issue of operating within the armbit of the law.
We equally urge him to adopt measures in checkmating his workers as they will either make him to fail or succeed. Investigations have always shown that ENTRACO workers are the first to violate the law by engaging in dubious deals with defaulters.
Many of the ENTRACO workers see their appointments as an opportunity to scoop their own democracy dividends thereby compromising their assignments.
Daily Nigerian Horn will in the same vein urge Imo residents to cooperate with ENTRACO so that things will move smoothly in the state.
A situation where residents will deliberately violate the laws of the state is not acceptable. Equally, the ENTRACO boss must ensure that its operations are consistent.
A situation where the laws are obeyed in the morning and violated in the evening as it is the case at Fire Service roundabout, Douglas and Mbaise roads respectively, will make the whole exercise of no effect.
