Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other faithfuls from Ezi-Orsu community, have disassociated themselves from a recent protest at Government House, Owerri.
They alleged that the protest was orchestrated by people they described as few misguided members of the opposition from the community under the aegis of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Economic Development Initiative to undermine leaders and members of PDP in the state who are members of the community for their selfish interest.
In a chat with Mr Kingsley Ngwuruakor who spoke on behalf of the party leaders in the community, he questioned the rationale behind such protest against an administration that is barely one month old in office.
He described the protest as a mere display of (opposition) rascality which is capable of putting Ezi-Orsu community in a regrettable position.
Ngwuruakor recalled that in the 8 years of Rochas administration, ISOPADEC for instance was converted to a private liability company and Ezi-Orsu community never benefited in terms of political appointments or physical infrastructures; adding that the only visible project carried out by the commission under the last administration was the siting of a 4 classroom block at Ejemekwuru which is not an oil producing community.
The PDP chieftain wondered why the opposition from Ezi-Orsu who were close to Rochas administration didn’t deem it necessary to protest then.
“Why would any group or association embark on protest of any kind against an administration that is barely taking off” Ngwuruakor queried.
He further stated for record purposes that Ezi-Orsu community has critical stakeholders who make and take decisions for her on issues of this nature. “Therefore, such critical stakeholders did not in any way at any point in time permit or endorse such senseless protest suggesting that those involved acted by themselves, for themselves and own their own.” Ngwuruakor said.
He further noted that the group had already been denied by Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta Socio-Economic Development Initiative whose umbrella the protest was carried out in a disclaimer published on page 2 of weekend Announcer Friday 28 June 2019.
“In the light of the foregoing, all the PDP faithful and leaders in the community wish to warn members of the opposition and any other group in the name of Ezi-orsu community in whatever guise to desist from such senseless activities that will do the community no political good other than tarnish the image of our people.” He stressed.
Ngwuruakor further pointed out that Ezi-orsu community shall continue to drum her support for the Government of Ihedioha for finding their son, Hon Engr Gerald Irona worthy as his deputy.
He noted that Irona, the deputy Governor of Imo State has always demonstrated capacity, integrity and forthrightness as a political icon who has never been found wanting.
Ngwuruakor stressed that Ezi-orsu community as well as PDP leaders and their faithfuls will resist those he described as MIDNIGHT HITLERS who want to unnecessarily drag the good name of Imo State Deputy Governor in the mud using Ezi-orsu community.
“We do not have any doubt that His Excellency (D-Gov) Hon Engr AG Irona will always remember Ezi-orsu in the scheme of things as he has demonstrated in the past.” He noted.
Ngwuruakor thanked His Excellencies on behalf of PDP leaders, party faithfuls and the entire well-meaning people of Ezi-orsu community and reassured them of their total and unalloyed commitment, solidarity and support in the march towards the “Rebuild of Imo’’ project.
