The leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) Owerri Federal Constituency, weekend in Owerri kicked off a reformation ceremony of the party.
They also reaffirmed the leadership of Sir Jude Ejiogu as the apex leader of the party.
In his keynote address, the convener and the party’s zonal leader, Hon. Chris Oguoma who stated that the gathering is basically to unite all the party leaders, members, officers and supporters of the party, added that they began with Owerri Zone but would still extend the reorganization to other members in Okigwe and Orlu Zone.
Oguoma maintained that the party would ensure to reach out to all that were linked to the party as according to him, it is a grassroots party that does not only operate at the state level but in every chapter, booth and ward of the state.
He stated that they had also reaffirmed their support and belief in Ejiogu because he had shown a high level of activeness in politics, adding that he is also reliable and capable to carry them along.
The former commissioner for Judicial Service Commission and Owerri West leader of the party, Hon. Gas Amadi reaffirmed the essence of the gathering, stating that “it was unfortunate that the internal disagreements we had in the party made us to look disorganized during the past elections. But I believe that with this first outing of the reformation of the party, we would form a formidable party that could not be broken again.
Speaking also, the Owerri North party leader, Dr. Obinna Obechere stated that there was no way they would had been answering loser.
According to him, “I refuse to accept that the party lost in the last election for it was only because of the sin of one man in the state who refused to accept that an Owerri Zone indigene be made the candidate of the party that led to our losing the seat of governance.”
Obechere reaffirmed his support for Ejiogu stating that he left the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the party because he was encouraged the manner Ejiogu played politics in 2015.
He added that the party would be built stronger and would bounce back in all the Zones for he believes that Ejiogu would emerge winner by the time the next election would be conducted.
Also present in the ceremony were Owerri North chairman, Nze J.C. Nnadi, Owerri North Leaders, Anty Eziogu Francise, Prof. Joe Nzeribe, Dr. Iheduru Anthony, executive chairman Owerri Municipal, Nze Joe Ngor,
Others were Owerri Municipal leader, Amb. Jude Agbugba, Owerri West chairman Okwukwu ward 3, Hon. Charles Amadi, formal Technical chairman Owerri North, Hon. Kelechi Ofurum, among others.
